The AEA R44C is a ribbon microphone based upon the incredibly rare vintage RCA R44. Designed by Wes Dooley to combat the danger of the original RCA falling out of existence, the AEA R44C is and incredibly faithful reproduction, but sonically and visually.

After servicing ribbon microphones for 20 years the founders of AEA gained a unique insight into what makes the original R44 so popular. Thanks for collectors in the 90s the rarity of the RCA model increased so much that something had to be done. This is where the AEA R44C steps in, and today you’ll find it being used by a huge number of producers and engineers. Mike Crossey has a pair of these microphones at Miloco’s Livingston Studios.

The AEA R44C has the same stunning authentic sound and feel, and of course design, as the 1930s RCA model. Drawing the best on British engineering and American sound the R44C is has very low sensitivity to hums. Hand crafted to meticulous detail, the AEA R44C uses parts that could easily be used…
