The AKG C 451 B is a small diaphragm condenser microphone that utilises the classic AKG CK 1 capsule.

One word that accurately sums up the AKG C 451 B is “precise”. Precisely developed and engineered to deliver an accurate and precise sound on a range of sources. The capsule on the original 451s was the now classic CMS series CK 1. The same capsule is used on other classic AKG mics such as the C28, and ever since it was originally launched in 1969 it has proved time and again to be a hugely popular choice among song engineers and producers. Discontinued in 1993, AKG have decided to revive the legendary sound of the 451 combined with the CK 1, in response to growing demand from studio engineers. The result is the AKG C 451 B, and it comes with a vastly improved performance and even price.

The capsule of the new AKG C 451 B is, unlike its predecessor, permanently fixed to the body of the amp, thus eliminating the mechanical problems that a lot of original owners will be familiar with that came as a result of the screw joint between capsule and preamp. With its exceptionally light diaphragm, the AKG C 451 B is nearly impervious to noise caused as a result of handling the mic, which as many of us know was not the case with the older models! The metal body protects against RF interference too, while being sturdy ad strong enough to deliver incredible results under tough conditions.

Typically used as the perfect tool for capturing accurate and rich transients on sources such as cymbals, drums, and other percussive instruments, the AKG C 451 B also produces great results on a range of acoustic and even electric instruments.
