The Brauner panther V is very similar to the Brauner Phathera, but has the added selectable polar patterns, including omni or bidirectional options.

Brauner is a small German maker of mics founded in by Dirk Brauner in 1995. Previously Brauner was a maintenance engineer who manufactured custom made valve pieces of gear. The first commercial mic to come from Brauner was the VM1, which was conceived in 1993, and hit the big time after becoming hugely popular with Dirk Brauner’s clients. The Brauner Phanthera V succeeds with similar hallmarks as the single-direction Phathera model. Notably the ability to add a vibrant and powerful audio quality while bringing out the qualities of a source material with subtlety. As well as cardioid, the Brauner Phanthera V also provides switching between omni or bidirectional, lending itself to a range of applications. Using the omnidirectional selection, the user can record ambience, soloists and full orchestras with the beautiful natural characterises of the Phathera microphone.

Another great use for the selectable omni directional or bidirectional polar response is in conjunction with another microphone in a stereo configuration. Also included on the mice is an attenuator that you can switch in to lower the out level by 10db. All these features combined mean the the Brauner Phathera V is a highly versatile microphone suitable to a huge amount of audio recording applications.

Brauner are famed for their beautiful mics, attention to detail and incredible build quality; qualities that are present as ever on the Brauner Phathera V.
