Mic Pre-amp with compression.

  • Features

The Empirical Labs Mike-E EL9, is a highly flexibly, high performance transformer coupled preamp.

The Empirical Labs Mike-E combines a high quality mic pre, with a unique saturator and compressor that offers tonal colouring and a classic knee compression, that can both replicate vintage analog classics as well as offering something new.

The saturation circuit offers a tried-type soft clipping, with a second circuit coming in to play on higher level signals, levelling the peaks even more.

The compressor is based on the world famous and modern classic, the Empirical Labs Distressor, with a few added characteristics.

The Emphasis two stage circuit boosts high frequencies prior to the CompSat™ circuit, and the cuts them afterwards, improving the signal to noise ratio.

The Mix dial allows you, the engineer, to blend the compressed and uncompressed signals, creating an easy to use parallel compression function.
