newJosephson Josephson C715

Unique dual-polar pattern condensor mic.
  • Description
  • Features

The Josephson C715 is a single large diaphragm condenser mic that employs a unique vent, that can be adjusted to provide cardioid or omnidirectional frequency responses. Designed to minimise acoustic coloration, the Josephson C715 uses a sophisticated metal foam housing that eliminates reflecting internal surfaces. The result is a beautifully faithful and clear microphone.

Josephson Engineering make a large range of high quality condenser microphones for recording studios and other audio applications. Founded in California in 1988, Josephson mics are now designed and manufactured in Santa Cruz.

During the development of their microphones Josephson have invented a number of unique technologies that have allowed them to create designs not perceivable on the classic mics of the past. This allows them to provide a wider range of sounds in their microphones, and a great range of unique microphone models.

As well as using them in their own mics, Josephson supply capsules to other microphone makers across the world.

The Josephson C715 is part of the Series Seven range of Josephson microphones, all of which provide excellent flexibility and a range of polar patterns.

The Josephson C715 uses the latest single-sided capsule, that has a 5 micron evaporated gold diaphragm. The polar response is controlled by an adjustable vent on the backplate. Sound-wise the Josephson C715 is a distinctly smooth quality, suitable for a range of studio applications where a microphone with two diaphragms may sound too shrill or toppy.

The circuit makes use of a class-A FET, which drives the output Lundahl transformer. The high voltage internal supply uses a non-switching method, minimising noise on the mic.

Eliminating the need for a shock mound, the Josephson C715 use an internal shock mounting system on the capsule.
